So you want to learn about photography for beginners…that’s great! Now the only question is, where do I start? Well everyone is starting at a different place so we’re going to break this up based on where you’re at. For example some of you probably already have a camera and are looking for photography tips for beginners and others don’t even have a camera and are looking for the best beginner digital camera. Below are some of my best suggestions for anyone learning about photography for beginners.
- Ask A Friend – If any of your friends or family members are into photography at all I’d try talking to them to see if they’ll give you pointers or help you get started by making recommendations.
- Read - The internet is full of so many amazing resources for photographers. Some of my favorites includes DPReview & DPS. Both of the sites listed have so much to read on them that it would take months and months to get through it all. I’d pick a couple of their articles that really apply to the area you’re trying to learn about and read those first.
- Practice - Like basketball or baseball, photography is a sport in the sense that it takes practice to get good and although the suggestion’s above will help, it all comes down to just going out and shooting photos.
Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be releasing a photography for beginners book that will really help beginning photographers get started in the right direction without being bogged down with technical details and information overload. I’ll be sure to update this article when it’s out. Does anyone have any suggestions for titles besides the obvious one of “Photography For Beginners”? Also if anyone has any questions they’d like answered ASAP head over to my recent post called Photography 101 where I’ll answer any questions posted in the comments.
